lyrics

The sting of the snow
Greying salt on weary roads
Don’t forget your coat
Hide your face or lose your nose

All these sentiments
Are the ramblings of a man
Who fails to remember the summer
That the winter over ran

Oh don’t you know
That the truth in winter’s song is that

Everybody dies
But not everyone lives
Like every flower that sleeps/falls
will not rise til it embraces the heat

All these alibis
All my excuses white like the snow
In the picture perfect prints
Our Christmas cards put on for show

Oh but we all know
Of the dead that lie beneath
Embalmed by the cold
Ever-dying, no relief

This is my hymn for the winter
This is my charge against the cold
Beware beware what lies ahead of you
The heat, the sun, the summer, your passing has been foretold

This is our chant out of the dark
This is our Psalm as we grow old
Remember remember what lies beyond the blue
The Father, the Son, the Spirit, our redemption to behold
