Continents Grind at my feet Pushing me higher Pinching my toes I’ll rise above the tide I feel you Stinging like the breeze Tearing my faults lines breaching my skin To reach me within Oh sweet pain of change I am dry land surrounded by moving waters Sweet pain of change You are the storm that smooths the edges of my faith Let go Let go of your edges There will be wind The higher up you go And the more that you grow Slow down There’s no need to hurry These changes take time Shaping your mind Eroding the the rind Oh sweet pain of change I am dry land surrounded by moving waters Sweet pain of change You are the storm that smooths the edges of my faith Continents Shifting at my feet The world ever changing Coastlines never still Bending to Your will The world ever shifting Too slow for us to see But we feel it constantly

I’m a local here I’m familiar with the woods I’ve even had a cup or two with the big bad wolf At first he’s in the shadows, then he’s in my neighborhood He’s sat at my table and slept under my roof Every word he says slips silent like a knife Into my head in such a way I couldn’t feel the strife There’s no point in arguments with the devil in the night All that we can do is take him on this fight So carry on You’ll find strength for the fight ahead of you Keep moving along There’s a light at the edge of the woods up ahead I’ve been lost so long I’ve grown used to this curse I’ve felt right at home here sleeping in the earth That’s the truth of sin taking root beneath my skin Til’ I forget it’s there in my silence it perverts Til’ I forget it’s there in my silence it perverts So carry on You’ll find strength for the fight ahead of you Keep moving along There’s a light at the edge of the woods up ahead Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf It ain’t me (no) It ain’t me So carry on You’ll find strength for the fight ahead of you Keep moving along There’s a light at the edge of the woods up ahead Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf It ain’t me (no) It ain’t me

The places we remember when we were young The echoes we all hear are the ghosts of songs we sung Familiarity is a symptom of the drug That dulls the pain of old words that once stung Give me second birth give me new life We were made for more than this grind from nine to five We will die as failures if we fail to try To walk with the Spirit instead of running our separate lives We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Where did the sunshine go We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Growing up’s not growing old Tell me once again how did we get so lost On the road to adulthood imagination holocaust Life is more than finding out what retirement costs Growing up is more than remembering what we lost Growing up is more than remembering to floss We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Where did the sunshine go We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Growing up’s not growing old Are we really becoming Everything we hated when we were young We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Where did the sunshine go We were meant to be Restless souls Restless souls Growing up’s not growing old Tell me once again how did we get so lost Burned all the bridges we couldn’t cross Here we are caught in the middle Waiting in between dying and the cradle Tell me once again how do we overcome Hold me tight and tell me we’ve become What we were meant to be

I would whisper in the silence I would scream above the noise If I knew my words will get to you I would gladly lose my voice You’ve been lying in the shadows With your eyes turned from the sun But in time all leaves reach for the light When all things are said and done You’ll find your way Back home again You’ll find your way Back home again Just know that it’s alright to feel alone sometimes You’re not alone in being alone We’re on our way Back home again There is beauty to be found When you stop to sit awhile Though it’s hard to watch the world go by Just remember my child We are all just passing through On our way to where we're from Though these city lights may catch your eye Just keep moving on and on You’ll find your way Back home again You’ll find your way Back home again Just know that it’s alright to feel alone sometimes You’re not alone in being alone We’re on our way Back home again You’ll find your way Back home again You’ll find your way Back home again Just know that it’s alright to feel alone sometimes You’re not alone in being alone We’re on our way Back home again

about

Continents was written during a time of transition and anticipation. It is a reflection on change, and the time and pain it takes to be moulded by God. As such, Continents is aptly the most sonically eclectic of all my works thus far - switching genres almost every song.

We are all restless souls, on our way back home.
